Fostering

Fostering – A Short Term Commitment with Life Changing Benefits
Your current lifestyle doesn’t allow for a long term commitment to a pet but, for now, you have the time, experience and, most importantly, the heart to care for a pet in need of a temporary home.  Please consider being a foster pet parent .

Why foster?
Many rescue groups don’t have a permanent facility and must place their animals in foster homes while they wait to be adopted.  Foster families offer the pet a safe place to get ready for their forever home.  Fostering is a great way to enjoy a pet in your home with out making a lifetime commitment and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you've made a difference in the life of an animal.

What skills are needed?
With basic knowledge of animal behavior and health, fostering can be a flexible, fun and rewarding volunteer job.  Just by getting to know the animal’s behavior and personality, you’ll offer valuable information to the adoptive family.  Some foster animals require a little extra help or training. Shy cats may need some patience and dogs benefit from basic obedience training.

Most rescue groups ask foster families to make a minimum time commitment, for example 3 months, and our partner rescue groups will work with you to find a pet compatible with your home and lifestyle.  Rescue groups will pay related medical expenses and some even pay for food.

Read more about it, and then Contact Us.  We’ll answer your questions, provide additional information, and organize a contact with our partner rescue group to begin the process.
